Indiana Getaway

A few weeks ago, we ventured to Indianapolis for the weekend. We had no real plans, just a hotel reservation and two happy little girls eager to stay in a hotel.  Elliana was thrilled to use the pool, even though we have a pool down the street that we frequently visited...just something more exciting about a pool in the hotel I suppose.

On our way to dinner, a nice couple stopped us and asked if we were going to the fair. "Um, what fair?" we politely asked. And they proceeded to tell us the Indiana State Fair was going on just up the street. And, they just happened to have tickets they weren't going to use. We happily accepted the free tickets and made plans to attend the fair the next morning.

The fair was far larger than any of us had anticipated! There were rides, games, exhibits and venues covering several football fields in distance. One of my favorite exhibits was a little area called "Little Farmer" where kids worked a mini farm and milked a cow, sheered sheep, rode a tractor, collected eggs, and then "sold" them all to the farmers market to earn money to buy something at the local market. It was a fantastic idea and Elliana LOVED pretending to be a farmer.

We did a scavenger hunt to find answers to Soybean trivia, earning us all free milkshakes (even Maya) whose I happily ate so she could enjoy some later ;)
On our scavenger hunt, Daddy and Elliana posed for a few photos :)

For a girly girl, Elliana sure did like riding on tractors and pretending to be in control of these massive machines!

Little Girl, BIG tractor!

We even talked Daddy into a ride for him and Elliana (not that it was hard to talk him into it :), and boy did they love going high up in the sky on the giant Ferris Wheel.

And Maya and I just chilled while we waited for the big kids to return from their ride. :) I just LOVE those baby toes!!!

After the ride, we played a game, where Elliana walked away with not one, but 5 toys! Talk about a good game!

Overall, it was an amazing weekend full of spontaneity, love, laughter and of course our little family.
