Maya 23 Month Update

We are a few days shy of Maya's 24th month, but her 23 month update is here!

Just shy of two years, Maya's personality is in full force. And I'm in love with it. Overall, Maya is pretty laid back, easy going but yet still opinionated and strong willed. A beautiful combination which keeps me on my toes and makes me laugh out loud.

Maya is my independent player. Sometimes while Elliana is at school, Maya will sit and play for hours! Without needing a thing, just lost in her own world of play and imagination. It's a skill I don't want to diminish as it brings such joy to her and to me to watch.

Maya is a snuggle bug and loves to cozy up with blankets, hold hands and snuggle on my lap or with "Nani". She typically sleeps through the night but on rare occasions I'm woken to the sound of "cuh-dle mommy" through the baby monitor. How could I not go cuddle such cuteness?! :)

Maya loves to wear pretty dresses and dress up in pretend play. I love that she already has such confidence in herself and struts around the house saying, "maya is pretty princess." Wishing I could bottle that up for her whenever she needs it, and praying she never loses this confidence.

Three weeks ago, Maya began her first gymnastics class, called Tumblebugs. We participate once a week with kids her age and two wonderful teachers. By two years old, Elliana was deeply immersed in all sorts of activities including storytime at the library, gymnastics and non-stop play groups. Being a second child, Maya is part of my taxi service preventing us from such organized activites before now. I admit I was hesitant to join the group as she never seemed to want that kind of structure...but oh my goodness I was wrong! The child is in LOVE with her new activity and wakes up each Thursday morning saying "Nastics class maya! Happy!" in the broken sentences only my Maya can construct.  All morning Maya yells out, "Maya Happy!" and randomly claps and cheers for herself. In class, I see her confidence grow and she literally grins ear to ear making Thursday mornings one of my most favorite parts of our week. 

Maya, you have changed my world in amazing ways the last two years and I am so very very grateful for all that you are!
