Cruising in Cozumel - Day 5

Another day in paradise. Warm sunny skies. Beautiful ocean breezes. Cute (I'm a little biased), little family and yet another country for these wee travelers to visit. Today we arrived in Cozumel, Mexico.

Our ship docked at a pier where we were able to walk right off onto the dock, and right into a shopping plaza. My kind of port!! :) Immediately after disembarking we noticed a large advertisement for none other than Starbucks! 5 days at sea with no strong coffee made it a no-brainer where our first stop would be. 

We found the Starbucks rather quickly and paid $119 for two grande iced caramel macchiatos. It was 85 degrees and iced coffee just seemed like a wise idea, despite the cost. Lucky for us, that $119 was in dinero and converted appropriately on our credit card when we got home. But, at the time, the lavish coffee purchase...well it was all part of the fun.

Even though I longed to eat outside and soak up the sun, the warmth and culture... my warm blooded family complained it was too hot outside. :( So, we ate inside and planned out our day. I was able to get a photo outside at least taken by none other than sweet Elliana.

The shopping in Cozumel is polar opposite to that of the Cayman Islands. Shop merchants begging tourists to come to their store, offering free food, samples and jewels for traveling patrons. TJ enjoyed the constant haggling, but as usual it turned me off, only to make me feel regretful later that we bought nothing. I'm not good in high pressure sales environments and frequently buy nothing, as I did at this port. Though, three weeks later I am still thinking of that beautiful silver ring I passed on....maybe next time :)

After browsing for hours, we ventured back to the ship posing for some photos along the way.

Every several yards were beautiful glittered sculptures which Maya was fascinated by. Upon passing each one, she would lunge toward the statue just to touch, admire and "talk" to the sea like creatures. LOVE this little girls fascination with the world.

After re-boarding our ship we played at the pool some more, and enjoyed watching Elliana and Maya play peek-a-boo around Mickey's hat.

Elliana then ventured to the big pool with Daddy where she practiced her solo swimming, breath holding and confidence. I have a feeling we will be spending a LOT of time at the community pool this summer.
