Maya at 11 months

Holy smokes, it happened again. Another month has passed. Another month that my baby girl is closer to one year old. As always, I find it hard to summarise in one little blog entry how amazing this little girl is. But, here I go.

We had a big month with Maya this past month. One day after turning ten months old, Maya began pointing...and hasn't stopped. During our cruise, Maya pointed to all sorts of new things. She has also begun to recognize familiar characters, primarily Pluto and Goofy and LOVES to wave to them in books, on shows and of course in person. :)

Maya truly adapted beautifully to the time changes, sleeping and even climate changes that our trip to the Caribbean threw her way. She was all smiles. Loved the adventure of it all and seemed to just soak it all in.

Daddy & Maya in Cozumel

Me and my girls - January 30, 2013

Maya is quite the adventurous eater and has tried (and liked) EVERY new food we have offered. Much to my surprise,  Maya very much likes celery. Raw, crunchy, choking hazard celery. But, as always she munches away happily on it, pushing my choking fears aside. Maya is unique like that. She always surprises me....the things that I stress about and worry, she conquers with no problem. The issues/scenarios I don't think of, she comes up with.

Not yet walking, but cruising like crazy. Maya can stand unassisted and we have witnessed a few unsteady steps. Though, once she realizes she isn't holding onto anything, she quickly sits down and prefers to crawl to her destination. Maya does seem to understand so very much and in the past month we have noticed her trying to say her sister's name. Although it doesn't come out as Elliana, it is very close and something like "E- AAnnnna" or "nnnnaaaaana". We know what she's saying though.

Maya understands sign language but seems to prefer to point or make noises rather than trying to sign. If we don't "get" what she's saying fast enough, she will resort to signing but she always seems to be a bit annoyed to have to resort to doing so.

Maya, I love you. I love your antics, your happiness and your big old belly laughs. I love the grumpy noises you make when you sleep, the way you cross your legs while eating and the persistence of waving hello to everyone you pass. Sweet girl, Happy 11 months :)
